US Man Spends Rs 1.35 Crore On Painful Leg Surgeries To Grow 5 Inches Taller

The 41-year-old raised $75,000 (Rs 61.48 lakh) in three years for his first surgery that took place in 2016.

A man from Minnesota in the United States has spent a whopping $1,70,000 (Rs 1.35 crore) on two leg-lengthening surgeries to increase his height by five inches. Moses Gibson, who was always insecure about his height of 5 feet 5 inches tried everything ranging from medications to ‘spiritual healer’ to grow taller before going in for the painful surgery, reported the New York Post.

"I just didn't feel good about myself," Mr Gibson told Kennedy News and Media, adding that he was subjected to "heightism."

"I was unhappy about it most of the time, it was my self-confidence in general, and with the ladies. It affected my dating life. I used to put things in my shoes to gain a little bit of height, but it wasn't very much," he further added.

The 41-year-old worked as a software engineer by day and an Uber driver by night for three years to save $75,000 (Rs 61.48 lakh) for his first  surgery.

Gibson first underwent the procedure in 2016, which added 3 inches to his height, which added 3 inches to his height, taking him to 5-foot-8. However, he wasn't satisfied and wanted to go in for a second surgery.

"After the first procedure, I was happy with it to some extent, but it was always in my mind that I wanted to do a second one to complete it," Gibson told the New York Post.

"I’m a high achiever. I’ve got the money and I can finish the journey," he further said.

In March this year, Gibson again shelled out $98,000 (Rs 80.34 lakh) for a second surgery, which according to him should add another 2 inches to his height.

The total cost of the two surgeries was approximately $1.65 lakh (Rs 1.35 crore).
