Breakups can be incredibly painful because of the emotional attachment that both the partners share with one another. It sometimes leads to guilt, resentment, anger, and regret and cause intense emotional pain. One man from China wasn't willing to put himself in that state and therefore went to extreme lengths in an attempt to win his partner back.
The lovesick Chinese man spent 21 hours on his knees in the rain outside his ex-girlfriend's office, begging her to return back, reported the South China Morning Post. He knelt outside the woman’s office building in Dazhou, in China’s southwestern Sichuan province from 1 pm on March 28 until 10 am the next day in extreme weather condition. Surprised locals gather around him and urged him to give up his efforts, the South China Morning Post reported, citing the video media outlet Jiupai News.
''Many of us tried to talk him into leaving. It's not necessary to keep on kneeling. The girlfriend is not willing to show up but you are still here, losing face,'' a man, surnamed, Li was quoted as saying.
The incident attracted so much attention that even the police reached the scene after receiving reports from passers-by about the man. However, all the persuasion by the police went in vain as the man refused to budge from his stand.
“He said his girlfriend broke up with him a few days ago. He wants to seek her forgiveness and he hoped she could date him again,” the anonymous officer was quoted as saying, reported the South China Morning Post.
When officers tried to move him on, the man reportedly said to them: “Is it illegal for me to kneel down here? If it is not illegal, please leave me alone.”
