Cracking a walnut even with you bare hands is a massively difficult task, but Naveen Kumar, from India has created new Guinness World Records for the most walnuts cracked with the head in one minute. The 27-year-old martial artist, was able to crack 273 walnuts in a minute, that’s over 4.5 per second, according to the Guinness World Records (GWR) website. Kumar broke the previous record of 254 held by Muhammad Rashid.
The pair have battled for the title of nut-cracking championship for years. In 2014 Rashid had broken 150 walnuts to become the first person to hold this record. About two years later, he went on to break his own record by cracking 181 nuts.
In 2017, Kumar snatched the title from Rashid by breaking a whopping 2017 walnuts, 36 more than his competitor. Kumar achieved the feat after being trained by Prabhakar Reddy, who holds several martial arts records himself, said the records keeping company GWR.
Although Kumar and Rashid broke the previous standing record on the sets of La Notte dei Record in Italy the next year, Rashid came out victorious by cracking an astonishing 254 walnuts to Kumar’s 239.
Five years later, Kumar has managed to break Rashid's record to claim the title of the greatest nut-cracker in the world.
"In order to prove my talent, I broke the record again," said Kumar to Guinness World Records after setting the new record.
The records keeping company also shared a video of the contest on the microblogging site Twitter and wrote, "New record: The most walnuts cracked with the head in one minute - 273 achieved by Naveen Kumar S."
