In a cricket-mad country like India, football fans in the southern state of Kerala have always maintained their love for the sport.
On Sunday, as the state prepared to watch the final between Argentina and France by setting up makeshift screens and fluttering their flags, a couple decided to get married by donning football jerseys of the finalists.
The BBC reported that Sachin R and R Athira's wedding date coincided with the final on Sunday. While they agreed on most things about their wedding, they didn't want to compromise on which team they supported in the final.

According to the report, Sachin is an ardent fan of Argentina star Lionel Messi, while Athira is a supporter of the French football team.
The couple tied the knot in a ceremony held in Kochi hours before the two teams met at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar in one of the most sensational finals in World Cup history.
Both of them wore number 10 jerseys -- Athira donned one for French forward Kylian Mbappe while Sachin wore one for Argentina's Messi over their wedding attire and jewellery.
The BBC, citing the newspaper Malayala Manorama, reported that following their wedding ceremony, the couple raced through their reception and the wedding feast to make it back to Sachin's house in Thiruvananthapuram, which was 206 km away, in time to watch what turned out to be a spectacular final.
