New Delhi: Meitei activist organisation Arambai Tenggol abducted a Manipur additional superintendent of police Tuesday evening and he was rescued within hours after the force launched an operation swiftly, officials told news agency PTI. ASP Amit Kumar, serving in the Operations Cell of Manipur Police, was forcibly taken from his residence in Wangkhei by members of the Arambai Tenggol group amidst gunfire. Alerted by the gunshots, Kumar's father contacted him, prompting the officer to rush to the scene with a limited team.

Despite their efforts, the outnumbered police force was unable to prevent Kumar's abduction as the activists swiftly seized him and fled the area, PTI's report stated. However, responding promptly, Manipur Police mobilised their forces, initiating a successful rescue operation that ensured Kumar's safe return within hours.
