In response to a complaint made by Angkita Dutta, the former leader of the Youth Congress' Assam wing, Assam Police on Saturday, April 22, filed a case against Srinivas BV, the head of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC). According to ANI, the case has been reported to the Dispur police station in Guwahati, and a team of police officers has already departed for Karnataka.

Sections 509, 294, 341, 352, 354, 354A(iv), 506, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act are among the Indian Penal Code sections that apply to this case. Dutta had previously been expelled from the Congress party on Saturday for "anti-party activities" days after she claimed that Srinivas had harassed her. She had been the state's youth wing president for the previous six years.

In a release, Congress general secretary Tariq Anwar stated that Dr. Angkita Dutta, the president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, had been expelled from the party's primary membership for six years due to her anti-party activities.

After speaking about the alleged harassment on April 18, Dutta filed a complaint against Srinivas at the Dispur police station the following day. She claims that Srinivas has been torturing her mentally for the past six months. She asserted that Srinivas insulted her and threatened severe repercussions if she reported him to higher party officials.

In the complaint submitted on Wednesday, 19 April, Angkita accused Srinivas of being "sexist, chauvinistic, and outraging a woman's modesty." On March 25, while the Congress was meeting in Chhattisgarh, she also claimed that Srinivas had verbally and physically harassed her.

In the meantime, Srinivas filed a defamation case and served Dutta with legal notice in response to her complaint and harassment claims.
