New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser for Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production, and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood on Sunday said that trade with India is the need of the hour for Pakistan.
Dawood was addressing the reporters in Lahore where he said “trade with India is very beneficial to all, especially Pakistan. And I support it” as reported by Pakistan daily The Dawn
He was interacting with the media at an exhibition on engineering and healthcare organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
While talking to reporters, Abdul Razak Dawood said, “As far as the ministry of commerce is concerned, its position is to do trade with India. And my stance is that we should do trade with India and it should be opened now.”
According to The Dawn, he also added that Russia is keen on investing in the field of construction and laying pipelines in Pakistan.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s export to Russia and other bordering countries needs immediate attention and growth. “So we need to open this trade. And that is why we are going there,” he added.
Dawood’s statement came when the people of Pakistan are facing the consequences of inflation in the country where the prices are skyrocketing.
Addressing the issue of inflation he said, “I agree with you on this issue. But this issue will persist due to imports of oil, raw material, machinery, and other goods.”
According to a report by news agency Reuters, inflation in Pakistan rose to 12.3 percent in December 2021.
