New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a two-day visit to Germany was given a grand welcome in Munich on the morning of June 26. He will be attending the Group of Seven, G7 Summit under the German Presidency. He is visiting Schloss Elmau, Germany, at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for the Summit. As he arrived, a Bavarian band played to welcome him. Besides participating in the G7 Summit discussions on climate, energy, food security, health, and gender equality, PM Modi will also hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines with politicians from some participating countries. 


The last time Modi visited Germany was on May 2, 2022, it was for the sixth edition of the India-Germany Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC). 






According to a PMO, G7 partner countries and guest international organisations will discuss topical issues such as environment, energy, climate, food security, health, counter-terrorism, gender equality and democracy.

Prime Minister Modi was also welcomed by the Indian diaspora, who cheered for him and were seen holding the Indian flag. 






"While in Germany, I also look forward to meeting members of the Indian diaspora from across Europe, who are contributing immensely to their local economies as also enriching our relations with European countries," the PMO statement read.



After attending the G7 Summit, Modi will visit the UAE on June 28. At the UAE, Modi will express his personal condolences over the demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, former President of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi. 


Modi will also congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the new President of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi.
