WATCH: Giant LED Screen Falls On Stage During Cantopop Boyband Mirror's Concert In Hong Kong. 2 Dancers Injured

Incident took place when popular Cantopop boyband Mirror was performing at Hong Kong Coliseum. The condition of one of the dancers is stated to be serious.

Two dancers sustained injuries after a giant video screen suspended above the stage came crashing down on the performers during a Cantopop concert in Hong Kong. The incident took place on Thursday, when Cantopop boyband Mirror was performing at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The government has launched an investigation and suspended future shows at the venue, local media reports said.

Video clips of the harrowing scene are circulating on social media. They show around 15 dancers performing on the stage when one of several suspended LED screens falls on them as the audience screams in panic. It can be seen that the screen directly falls on one dancer, before it topples over and hits another performer. Others on the stage then rush to help them.

The incident took place Thursday night, and this was the boyband’s fourth of the 12 scheduled concerts, according to a report in The Guardian. The report said the police were informed 10.36 pm, and that two injured dancers were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The condition of one of them is stated to be serious while the other is stable.

According to a Reuters report, the incident also left three members of the audience injured.

Investigation On

Mirror is a 12-member band that is credited with the revival of Cantopop, and it has gained immense popularity in Hong Kong.

"I am shocked… I express sympathy to those who were injured and hope that they would recover soon," the Reuters report quoted Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee as saying on Friday. He said they would investigate the matter and review safety procedures.

On Tuesday, during another show, Mirror member Frankie Lui fell off the edge of the stage after he seemed to lose his footing while giving a speech, video clips show. The Guardian report said an online petition was launched that night urging organisers to ensure safety for the Mirror band and avoid using “unnecessary stage mechanisms or raised platforms”.

Quoting Hong Kong Culture Secretary Kevin Yeung, the Reuters report said the leisure bureau of the government has contacted the organiser of the concert about other stage incidents that took place in recent days.
