New Delhi: US Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive for Covid-19, according to a White House statement on Tuesday. Harris is reportedly not exhibiting any symptoms and President Joe Biden is not a close contact, AP reported.
According to the press statement, Kamala Harris has exhibited no symptoms and will go under isolation. However, she will continue to work from the Vice President's residence.
"US Vice President Kamala Harris has tested positive for Covid-19. She has exhibited no symptoms and will isolate herself and will continue to work from the Vice President's residence," Office of the Vice President said in a statement.
Her press secretary Kirsten Allen clarified that the vice president had not been in close contact with President Joe Biden or First Lady Jill Biden over the past few days.
"She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules," the statement said.

Kamala Harris will follow US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and the advice of physicians and will return to the White House after she tests negative for Covid-19.
The 57-year-old received her first dose of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine weeks before taking office and a second dose just days after Inauguration Day in 2021. She received a booster shot in late October and an additional booster on April 1.
The US is seeing a rise in Covid cases. The US is averaging 46,925 cases a day, according to a New York Times tracker, up by 51 per cent from two weeks ago. Hospitalisations, which had also been steadily declining, are also increasing amid concerns over Omicron's BA.2 variant.
