New Delhi: Elon Musk, the world's richest man, has stated that he does not own a home. The tech billionaire, who is the CEO of Tesla, Starlink, and SpaceX and is currently attempting to buy Twitter in an apparent takeover bid, admitted to sleeping at friends' residences.
Musk made the revelation in a recent interview with TED's Chris Anderson. On Sunday, the video was posted to TED's YouTube channel.
In the Ted interview, Musk said, "I don't even own a place right now, I'm literally staying at friends' places."
“If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla's engineering is, I basically rotate through friends' spare bedrooms,” the Tesla CEO added.
Musk, who has a net worth of $265 billion as per Forbes, while responding to Anderson's question about wealth disparities around the world and the amount of money spent by billionaires, said, "For sure, it would be very problematic if I was spending billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case."
"I don't have a yacht, I don't take vacations," he added.
The interview was Elon Musk's first affirmation that, despite being the world's richest person, he does not have a permanent home.
According to Business Insider, Elon Musk was thought to be living in a $50,000 home rented from SpaceX in August 2021.
Musk currently owns 9.1 percent of Twitter and is the company's second-largest shareholder. Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk proposed a $43 billion buyout of the company.
