New Delhi: Three bomb blasts in a school in western Kabul on Tuesday left 6 people dead and 11 persons injured, said the Afghan police officials, reported news agency AFP.
Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran told AFP that Tuesday's blasts at the Abdul Rahim Shahid school were caused by improvised explosive devices and left at least six people dead and 11 wounded.
"These are preliminary figures. We are at the site and waiting for more details," he said.
The blast occurred when students were coming out of their morning classes from school, reported AFP quoting witness.
One of the explosions occurred inside the Abdul Rahim Shaheed High School in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighbourhood of the city while another one took place near an education centre seven kilometres away, reported news agency AP.
A third blast took place at an English language centre in the same area, but did not specify whether it was caused by an explosive, Zadran told AFP but did not specify whether it was caused by an explosive.
It appeared a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the sprawling compound, which can house up to 1,000 students, reported AP quoting witnesses. Number of children present inside the school building at the time of explosion was not immediately known.
As per the news agency, the school is teaching students only until the sixth grade after Afghanistan's hardline Taliban rulers went back on a promise to allow all girls to attend school. The responsibility for the incident has not been claimed yet.
