New Delhi: As many as 100 passengers and crew started feeling sick in an Emirates flight from Dubai to New York, with symptoms including cough and fever, said reports. At least 19 out of those were confirmed ill when the aircraft landed on Wednesday at John F Kennedy International Airport. The center for disease control and prevention reportedly confirmed that about 100 people complained of feeling ill on the flight from the Middle East, with symptoms including cough and fever. As per reports, 10 passengers of the aircraft carrying 521 people were taken to hospitals when they started complaining of feeling sick. Nine other passengers, who were sick, declined treatment. The plane, a double-deck-Airbus 380 which is the world’s largest passenger carrier aircraft,  was reportedly taken to a location away from the terminal so emergency officials could evaluate the situation. The passengers, who were not ill, were allowed to continue with their travel plans. A CDC official familiar with the situation earlier told CNN that authorities who are looking into the cause of the illnesses were considering respiratory illnesses like influenza. They did not rule out the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, a viral respiratory disease first identified in 2012.
