After signing of the Samarkand declaration, the heads of the SCO countries declared the inadmissibility of interference in the affairs of states under the pretext of countering terrorism. The SCO countries supported the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and the continuation of nuclear disarmament. They also noted the need to further boost international cooperation in the fight against Coronavirus.
Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed the growing influence of "new centres of power", AFP reported.

Uzbekistan proposes Special Economic Zones for SCO countries. An announcement can be made in this regard in the joint declaration.

Air patrolling done in Uzbekistan's Samarkand ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO ) Summit starting today.
"At the SCO Summit, I look forward to exchanging views on topical, regional and international issues, the expansion of SCO and further deepening of multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation within the Organisation," PM Modi said in a pre-departure statement.
"Under the Uzbek chairship, a number of decisions for mutual cooperation are likely to be adopted in areas of trade, economy, culture, and tourism," he added.
The SCO is holding its first in-person summit in Uzbekistan's Samarkand after two years. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the meeting besides Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday met his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi here on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Uzbekistan's Samarkand and expressed his happiness about Tehran joining the eight-member grouping.
"As we agreed with you, we have done everything for Iran to become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Our partners in this organisation have supported your application, all that is left is one last formality. It is indeed a formality, and Iran is joining this already serious, large, and authoritative international organisation," Russia's state-run Tass news agency quoted Putin as saying.
Putin stressed that Moscow and Tehran have similar views on many international issues.
The 22nd heads of states summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Samarkand are expected to finalise the admission of Iran and grant the status of a dialogue partner to Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

"We will keep you fully apprised when the PM's schedule of bilateral meetings unfolds," Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told reporters in New Delhi on Thursday. Kwatra also said the Prime Minister's participation in the summit was a reflection of the importance that India attaches to the SCO and its goals.

SCO Summit 2022 brings power giants — India, Russia, and China — to the same table as all the leaders of states are visiting Samarkand.
The SCO is holding its first in-person summit in Samarkand in Uzbekistan after two years. The summit will see the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also attending the summit.
Launched in Shanghai in June 2001, the SCO has eight full members, including its six founding members, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined as full members in 2017.
