A fire broke out in Wajid Ali Compound, Kurla, Mumbai, on Saturday morning. As many as 15 fire brigade vehicles responded to the emergency and controlled the blaze. No injury has been reported so far. According to the fire department, the blaze at India Market, Khairani Road, Sakinaka, was categorised as a Level-3 fire, according to news agency ANI.
The fire reportedly broke out at 6 AM. The blaze sparked at a one-storey building godown for scrap and plastic material, measuring 1000 x 500 square feet. The godown was on the ground floor.
A level-three fire is a blaze that puts those in the vicinity at extreme risk, requiring immediate evacuation.
Mumbai Kamathipura Fire
The Kurla fire came just 24 hours after the blaze that broke out at a commercial establishment on Grant Road in Mumbai's Kamathipura. The fire broke out at a restaurant around 2 AM on Friday.
The firefighting efforts involved 18 fire engines and two water lines sourced from a nearby high-rise.
The incident resulted in one fatality. Firefighters discovered the charred remains of an unidentified man in a bathroom at the site. The body was then taken to JJ Hospital, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) told news agency ANI.
