Background

Russia Ukraine Crisis HIGHLIGHTS: With the conflict between Russia and Ukraine worsening, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday warned Ukraine that the military operation would only end if Kyiv ceased resisting and complied with all of the Kremlin's demands.

By phone, Putin urged Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan that Ukraine's negotiators should be more "constructive" in their negotiations with Moscow, taking into consideration the realities on the ground.

Meanwhile, officials stated on Sunday that India has evacuated "about 15,920" of its people in 76 aircraft as part of the 'Operation Ganga' rescue effort launched in response to Russia's armed action against Ukraine.

There will be five flights from Budapest, one from Rzeszow, Poland, and one from Suceava, Romania.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Sunday, warned against a Russian attack on the historic port city of Odessa.

"They are preparing to bomb Odessa. Odessa!" said the Ukrainian President in a video message.

"Russians have always come to Odessa. They have always felt only warmth in Odessa. Only sincerity. And now what? Bombs against Odessa? Artillery against Odessa? Missiles against Odessa?" Zelensky said further.

"It will be a war crime. It will be a historical crime," he stressed.

Since their invasion on February 24, the Russian Forces have overrun the city of Kherson and besieged the port of Mariupol in the southern Ukraine, making its significant progress in the region, but has not moved towards Odessa.
