Russia-Ukraine Conflict: After Mass Grave Discovered In Bucha, Now Burned & Piled Bodies Found In Latest Horrors

Six burned and blackened corpses were discovered in Bucha, even as the identity of the people is not clear including the circumstances in which they were killed

New Delhi: Days after the Ukrainian authorities accused the Russian forces of committing war crimes and informed that almost 300 people have been buried in a mass grave in Bucha, a town outside Ukraine's capital Kyiv, more bodies of killed citizens were found in the town on Tuesday .  

With no signs of peace, the Ukraine-Russian conflict seems to be worsening as graphic evidence of killings and torture emerged following the withdrawal of Russian forces.

As per the latest report by the Associated Press, six burned and blackened corpses were discovered in Bucha, even as the identity of the people is not clear including the circumstances in which they were killed.

The blackened bodies recovered carried marks of torture as one of the bodies in the pile was found with its arms raised in supplication and another had a bullet hole in the head. A pile of bodies was witnessed lying near a residential street, close to a colorful and empty playground clearly visible to any passersby, as per the AP report.

“It’s horrible,” said Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky at the scene, according to the report. Andrii Nebytov, head of police in the Kyiv region, noted one of the charred bodies was a child. Dozens of dead bodies were seen around Bucha, where Russian forces withdrew in the past week, according to AP.

Going by the report in the Guardian, the Ukrainian prosecutor has said that they are probing nearly 5,000 Russian war crimes after the discovery of the Bucha killings leading to global condemnation of Russian troops.

Earlier, a mass grave was found in a trench in the grounds of a church. Ukraine has been accusing Russia of committing war crimes and called the Bucha killings a "massacre". However, Russia has refited the allegations and calling them a "provocation" by Ukraine.

On Tuesday, India condemned the Bucha killings and supported calls for an independent investigation into the matter. Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, TS Tirumurti, said India unequivocally condemned these killings and supported the call for an independent investigation.

In fact, high-resolution satellite imagery from Maxar Technologies showed that many of the bodies had been lying in the open for weeks, during the time that Russian forces were in the town.
