Prince Harry To Attend King Charles' May 6 coronation Without Meghan: Report

Harry's wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain in California.

Prince Harry will attend the British monarch's coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday, reported news agency Reuters. According to the palace, Harry's wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain in California.

After weeks of reports stating that Harry had been in touch with Charles' office about the event, the palace gave the confirmation. Despite the rift in the House of Windsor caused by Harry's decision to reveal family secrets in his best-selling book "Spare," Harry will attend.

Tensions between Harry and his family were stoked by the revelations, which included details of private conversations with his father and his brother, Prince William. These tensions became public when Harry and his wife moved to North America in 2020.

The book also made the claim that members of the royal family regularly provided the press with negative information about other House of Windsor members in exchange for favorable coverage of themselves.

According to BBC, More than a month ago, people contacted Prince Harry and Meghan, who live in California in the United States, via email about going to the coronation.

But until now, it was unknown if they would be there, along with other Royal Family members, well-known people, world leaders, and 450 representatives of charitable organisations and community groups.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision not to attend will be seen as part of ongoing, unresolved tensions with the Royal Family.

In his book and a previous Netflix series, Prince Harry expressed concerns about negative media coverage, particularly of Meghan, and he warned of a lack of family support.

It remains to be seen what role Prince Harry will play in the coronation ceremony because he is no longer a "working royal." Prince Harry and Meghan did not make the customary appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

It is anticipated that Prince William, in his capacity as Prince of Wales, will play a significant role in the coronation. Following Prince Harry's dramatic account of their disagreement, the two brothers' reunification will attract attention.

The Royal Family will be expected to attend a long weekend of public events and concerts in addition to the coronation service.
