NEW DELHI: A senior Pakistani journalist was heavily trolled on Twitter on Thursday for likening Tibetan leader Dalai Lama with JeM chief Masood Azhar. Stoking a controversy, Hamid Mir claimed that China blocked a resolution against Masood Azhar in UNSC because India was sheltering its enemy Dalai Lama since decades.

Mir's tweet came soon after China blocked a bid in the UN Security Council to designate Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed's chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

"It's very easy to understand why China blocked resolution against Masood Azhar in UNSC? India sheltering an enemy of China since decades and his name is Dalai Lama," Mir tweeted.

The Dalai Lama fled Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against the Chinese rule in his Himalayan homeland. He has been living in India in exile since then. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his nonviolent campaign over nearly 40 years to end China's domination of his homeland.

Reacting to his tweet, one Pakistani Twitter user wrote: Is #MasoodAzar is our #DalaiLama Now ? is this type of Naya #Pakistan we all are looking of? he is a Nobel prize winner for peace and the Masood Azahar is we all know?

One Piyush Pankaj said: "Wow!!! #DalaiLama is a terrorist & #MasoodAzhar is a saint. You guys need to improve your education system, before anything else."
