New Delhi: Ahead of voting on the no-confidence resolution moved by the Opposition to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan, the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government has issued show-cause notices to 14 dissident members of the National Assembly.
The government has asked the 14 dissident members to apologize and unconditionally join the party within seven days, news agency ANI reported citing the local Pakistani media.
According to Samaa TV, the development came during a meeting chaired by the Premier after these members of the National Assembly came out in open, indicating their defiance to Imran Khan.
A number of dissident lawmakers have said they would vote on the no-confidence motion tabled against Imran Khan in “accordance with their conscience”.
Responding to this, the PTI government’s Cabinet Ministers have asked the country’s top electoral body to play its role over reports of floor-crossing of the members of the National Assembly under Article 63-A, The News International reported.
Earlier on Friday, the PTI lawmakers and workers on Friday stormed the Sindh House in Islamabad after breaking the main entrance.
The PTI workers were livid against the dissident members, who were staying inside the building.
Pakistan People's Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lambasted the Prime Minister on this issue claiming Imran Khan is trying to provoke the 'third force' by creating a crisis in the country by the use of force.
Earlier on March 8, Pakistan’s opposition parties submitted the no-trust motion against the Prime Minister in the National Assembly secretariat expressing confidence to oust Imran Khan.
The PTI government has, however, exuded confidence to defeat the no-trust motion.
