Islamabad: The final post-mortem report of a Pakistani Hindu medical student who was found dead in mysterious circumstances in her hostel room in Sindh province has revealed that she was raped before being murdered. The victim was a final year student of Bibi Aseefa Dental College in Larkana district was said to be brilliant in studies and had a jovial nature. The college had claimed that she had committed suicide by hanging herself.


The autopsy report also had several flaws. The girl’s brother also suspected foul play and demanded a fair and transparent probe.  Medico-legal experts also did not agree to the autopsy report and questioned as to how a five-feet-tall girl managed to hang herself from the ceiling fan, which was 15 feet high.

Dr Amrita, Woman Medico-Legal Officer of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) yesterday revealed that the girl was sexually abused before being murdered, the News International reported on Thursday.

According to the report, a DNA test that was carried out confirmed the presence of male DNA profile indicated from semen residue on the deceased's clothes and also a vaginal swab was tested positive indicating a forced sexual act.

The girl’s death sent shockwaves in Pakistan and reignited the debate on how minorities in the country are treated and are more often than not deprived of justice. Following an outrage and protests in the region, the Sindh High Court on September 18 ordered a judicial inquiry into the matter which is being supervised by the Larkana District and Sessions Judge.
