Peshawar: In an horrifying incident, at least 8 people, including four Chinese nationals, were killed in a blast targeting a bus in northern Pakistan on Wednesday.
A senior government official told Reuters, "The bus plunged into a deep ravine after the blast and caused heavy losses. One Chinese engineer and one soldier are missing. The rescue operation is launched and the entire government machinery has been mobilised to rescue the injured by air ambulance."
According to Pakistan media reports, the incident took place early in the morning around 7:30am when a coaster was carrying over 30 workers, including Chinese engineers, from the Barseen camp to the Dasu hydropower plant in the Upper Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkwha.
The site had been cordoned off by police. Rescue and relief operation is underway. The injured persons have been rushed to Upper Kohistan District Headquarter Hospital, reported Dawn.
The cause of the explosion has not been ascertained as yet.
