New Delhi: The launch of the Russian military assault on Ukraine has left the world in despair with social media captivating myriads of emotions of people affected by the conflict.


From photos of a couple saying goodbye at a subway station in Ukraine to a father and daughter crying and embracing each other, there are several heart-wrenching photos going viral on social media.


In the latest viral photo, a couple can be seen in which the man has draped the Ukrainian flag around him as he embraces the woman with the Russian flag wrapped around her.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has tweeted the same photo saying, “Poignant: A man draped in the Ukrainian flag embraces a woman wearing the Russian flag. Let us hope love, peace, and co-existence triumph over war and conflict.”






Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's tweet amid the ongoing crisis sends out a message that there is hope in the dark times.


The photo was first shot in 2019, according to The Washington Post. It shows Juliana Kuznetsova and her fiance who were attending a concert by Belarusian rapper Max Korzh in Poland.


The picture has managed to garner more than 25,000 likes and the numbers are only increasing.


Other than Tharoor, several others have also tweeted the picture. Netizens agreed with Tharoor's and stressed the importance of peace between the countries.






“A picture is worth a thousand words!” one Twitter user wrote while posting the image. “Love not war,” tweeted another.


Since the assault was launched in Ukraine, more than 360 people have been wounded and about 137 were killed as of Friday, according to news agency AP.


Ukraine state border service also announced that all men between the ages of 18 and 60 are barred from leaving the country following the imposition of martial law.
