New Delhi: Julie Anne Genter, New Zealand’s Minister of Women who is in the ninth month of her pregnancy, has surprised one and all with her display of strength, as she cycled her way to hospital.

Genter has taken cycling to a whole new level by reaching the hospital on a cycle for the birth of her first child.

She chose cycling on Sunday for one kilometer journey from her home to Auckland City Hospital for the delivery.

In a social media post, Genter wrote: "My partner and I cycled because there wasn't enough room in the car for the support crew... but it also put me in the best possible mood!" . She attached a picture of her with her 42 weeks baby bump alongside her bike.

She said in the post that she was going in to hospital for an induction.

Apart from heading the Ministry of Women, she is also Associate Transport Minister in New Zealand’s centre-left government, advocating for sustainable travel.

As per reports, the baby had still not arrived by Monday late afternoon.

A couple of months earlier, New Zealnd’s PM Jacinda Ardren returned to work after having her first child in June. She became only the second workd leader to give birth while in office. Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto was the first lady to do so.
