28 Dogs Survive For Over 7 Days By Eating Deceased Owner’s Leg In Bangkok

The Voice Foundation released a video of the 28 dogs at their facility after the rescue, showing their weakened state due to a lack of food and water.

Twenty-eight dogs were rescued from a home in the Khlong Sam Wa district of Bangkok after they were found to have survived by eating the leg of their dead owner. 62-year-old owner, Attapol Charoenpithak, was found dead after neighbours noticed his car had not moved for several days on Saturday, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported citing local media report.

The rescued dogs, a mix of Chihuahua and Shih Tzu breeds are believed to have survived by eating Attapol's left leg. Concerns regarding the welfare of the dogs had been raised by animal welfare organisations due to Attapol's propensity to keep a large number of dogs and transport them in cages.

It is believed that Attapol, who had a history of diabetes and hypertension, passed away from these illnesses, leaving the dogs stranded and without food for over a week. The house was described by police and representatives of the animal welfare group The Voice Foundation as being in a messy state, with trash and dog poop all over the place, according to SCMP.

The Voice Foundation said, "Initially, it was reported that there were about 15 dogs surrounding the uncle's body. But when the team and doctors arrived to the area, they found them scattered around the house and 2 dead bodies were found."

The organisation revealed that when rescuers got to the house, two of the thirty dogs that were there had already passed away.

The foundation released a video of the dogs at their facility after the rescue, showing their weakened state due to a lack of food and water. The charity sought support on social media, stating, "The most important thing is that the foundation needs to ask for mercy to help these 28 lives. Therefore, we need to use emergency funds and raise more funds to take care of these children."
