New Delhi: An explosion took place in Kabul’s police district 5. According to the officials, there were no casualties reported so far, TOLO News reported. The blast took place due to a magnetic mine.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News, two people were injured in the blast. There is no official statement by the Taliban authorities on the death toll. “I was busy with a customer when a boom shook the store. I saw people were taking victims from the blast site, I don't know whether they were dead or injured,” an eyewitness told Reuters.
Another blast took place in western Kabul on Saturday as a magnetic bomb attached to a minivan went off in the Shi’ite area in the capital. The blast claimed the lives of many people. A Taliban official told Reuters, “six people had been killed and at least seven wounded in the blast in the Dasht-e Barchi area of western Kabul.”
The Dasht-e-Barchi area is dominated by the Shia Hazara community. Kabul has been the center of serial blasts lately. According to Reuters, more than 100 people had died in similar blasts in Kabul in October.
In Saturday's blast, Hameed Saighani, a former journalist for the Ariana News was also killed. On Friday, another blast took place in a mosque in the Spinghar district of Nangarhar before the Friday prayers.
There are no official statements on the death tolls by the Taliban government so far. The country has been going through political turmoil after the takeover of Kabul by the Taliban.
“A recent spate of such attacks has heaped more pressure on the Taliban rulers, who took power following the collapse of the Western-backed government in August and are also grappling with the economic crisis and potential famine,” reported Reuters.
