Israeli Airstrike Kills 24 In Lebanon, 7 Dead In Hezbollah Attack On Israel As US Pushes For Truce

Rockets from Lebanon killed seven people in Israel, while Israeli airstrikes killed 24 people in Lebanon. The US is pushing for a ceasefire.

Rockets crossed into northern Israel from Lebanon on Thursday killing seven people including four foreign workers and three Israelis. Meanwhile, 24 people were killed in the last 24 hours in Lebanon as Israel said it kept up its airstrikes against Hezbollah targets.

Meanwhile, US diplomats in the region have been pushing for a ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza in a bid to wind down the wars in the Middle East as the Biden administration enters its final months.

In northern Gaza, Israel hit one of the last functioning hospitals, according to the World Health Organisation. The strike destroyed much-needed supplies that the U.N. agency had delivered to the facility, it said, reported ABC News.

The strike triggered a blaze that affected the dialysis unit, destroyed water tanks, damaged the surgery building and injured four medics trying to extinguish the blaze, said the hospital's director, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya.

The missile launches from Lebanon crashed into an agricultural area in Metula, Israel’s northernmost town, killing four foreign workers and an Israeli farmer, said the local officials.

In the following hours, the Israeli military reported another volley of some 25 rockets from Lebanon targeting an olive grove in a suburb of the northern Israeli port city of Haifa. A 30-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were killed in the attack while two others were injured,  said Magen David Adom, Israel’s main emergency medical organization.

24 people were killed in Lebanon in Israeli airstrikes on Thursday, among them 13 people in the country’s eastern Bekaa Valley, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News agency. The attack came a day after Israel’s military warned residents there to evacuate.

The warning triggered panic as thousands of people started fleeing the city, known for its colossal Roman ruins.
