Blinken To Visit Israel, Palestine Calls Out 'Dehumanisation' In Gaza Strip After Total Blockade: Top Points

US State Secretary Antony Blinken will visit Israel amid escalations which have killed over a 1000 Israelis and more than 900 Palestinians.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinkne will visit Israel and Jordan to meet the senior officials in both the countries in the wake of escalations between Israel and Hamas. U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that Blinken will be travelling to the Middle Eastern countries on Wednesday following surprise attacks by Palestinian militant group Hamas on Israel on Saturday. 

Palestine issued a statement Wednesday saying the Gaza Strip was being subjected to "dehumanisation" as a total blockade by the Israeli forces continue their. 

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden condemned Hamas’ action on Israel as an "unadulterated evil unleashed on the world and said that the Palestinian militant group's stated purpose is to annihilate the state of Israel and kill Jewish people.

  • Biden said that at least 14 American citizen have been killed in the escalations so far. 
  • Miller said that the visit by Blinken to Israel will be a message of solidarity and support." "He, of course, wants to hear from the leaders of Israel, hear from them directly about the situation they're facing ... about what they need and how we can best support them," he said, according to Reuters. 
  • Palestinian government said that the company supplying electricity in Gaza has been "shut down" within hours of "running out of fuel."  
  • The Israeli Defence Forces said that dozens of its fighter jets struck over 200 targets overnight in a neighbourhood of a Gaza city in response to an attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas with a ground offensive. 
  • The ongoing bombings in the Gaza Strip have reminded the people of ‘Nakba’ the Arabic word for catastrophe that refers to the 1948 war of Israel's creation that led to their mass dispossession.
  • Philippine Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo has said that two Filipinos have been killed in Israel as she condemned the attacks, reported AP. 

Death Toll Crosses 1,000 In Israel, Over 900 Killed In Palestine 

The Israeli Defence Forces confirmed that the death toll in the country has surpassed 1,000 in one of the deadliest assaults in its history. Meanwhile, the Gaza health authority said that over 900 Palestinians have been killed so far in the escalations since Saturday. 

According to a Guardian report, over 100 bodies were retrived in the southern kibbutz of Be’eri, about 10 per cent of the community's population. 

In Kfar Aza kibbutz, bodies of Israeli residents and Hamas militants lay on the ground beside strewn furniture and torched cars, the report added. 

Palestinian authorities have claimed that Israeli warplanes and artillery used white phosphorus which is internationally prohibited.

Two Palestinian men were shot at by the Israeli forces who were left bleeding without any medical assistance, said the authorities, adding that both succumbed to their injuries. 

At least eight journalists have been killed while two others went missing in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, said the Palestinian enclave's press office on Wednesday, according to Anadolu news agency. 

Gaza Strip Being Subjected To Dehumanisation: Palestine

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the Palestinian government said that Gaza Strip was being subjected to "dehumanisation". 

"The Gaza Strip is faced with finding something truly humanitarian, with the entire power plant shutting down within hours of running out of fuel, which threatens to plunge the sugar into complete darkness and make it impossible to continue providing all basic vital services that depend entirely on electricity, and are partially allowed to die in light of the absence of fuel from... Rafah Gate," Palestinian government's media office said in a press statement.
