ISI Chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed Transferred, Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum Appointed New DG of Pak Spy Agency

Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum has been appointed as the new director-general of the ISI.

Islamabad: The Pakistan Army on Wednesday transferred Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed and appointed him as Peshawar Corps Commander.

Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum has been appointed as the new director-general of the ISI.

Lieutenant General Hameed, who had earlier served in the ISI as the head of internal security, was appointed as head of Pakistan’s spy agency on June 16, 2019 as part of a major military shake-up.

Lieutenant General Hameed, considered close to Pakistan’s Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, oversaw the crucial changes in Afghanistan where the Taliban seized control in mid-August.

He visited Kabul earlier in September and told the media that “everything will be ok” in Afghanistan, when there were rumours about differences among Taliban ranks due to delay in the announcement of the government, PTI reported.

The Pakistan Army also announced two more senior-level postings.

Lieutenant General Mohammad Amir was posted as Gujranwala Corps Commander, while Lieutenant General Asim Munir was appointed as the Quarter Master General (QMG) of the Army, as per the official statement.
