At the time when India is locked in a bitter tussle against its nuclear-neighbour for a number of border disputes, a group of Indian-Americans in Washington DC held a peaceful protest against China's aggression and mistreatment towards Indians as well as Uyghur minority groups in the country's restive Muslim-majority Xinjiang region.

According to the reports, the Indian-American community on Sunday gathered at the historic national mall facing the US Capitol to protest against China. The demonstrators wearing safety masks and following the norms of social distancing, up-held anti-China posters, banners and slogan against the Communist Party of China and its leaders.

New Agency PTI quoted Puneet Ahluwalia, an Indian-American Republican and founder of the Proud American Political Action Committee, who reportedy said, "China's Communist party has infringed on the religious rights of the Uyghur community and violated human rights of people of Hong Kong."

"We have seen what they have done in Africa. We have seen that they are doing in Iran. Most importantly, they recently backstabbed India," he said, adding that China is spying on Americans through various social media applications and by stealing data and information.

It may be recalled that the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had recently stated that "The United States will not stand idly as the Chinese Communist Party carries out human rights abuses targeting Uyghurs, ethnic Kazakhs and members of other minority groups in Xinjiang, to include forced labour, arbitrary mass detention, and forced population control, and attempts to erase their culture and Muslim faith."
