The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah on Wednesday claimed responsibility for launching missiles and drones at a military facility located in northern Israel, wounding atleast 14 soldiers, the Israeli military confirmed. Hezbollah stated that the attacks were in retaliation for the Israeli strikes that killed its members.

Hezbollah stated that it launched “a combined attack with guided missiles and explosive drones on a new military reconnaissance command centre in Arab al-Aramshe,” Al Jazeera quoted the group as saying.

Arab al-Aramshe is an Arab-majority village of northern Israel situated near the Lebanese border.

Follwing the attack, the military stated that six of the soldiers were in serious condition. After identifying the several drones and anti-tank missile launched from Lebanon towards the Bedouin village, the military said that it "struck the sources of fire," news agency Reuters reported.

The Israeli Ynet news site stated that the Israeli soldiers were in a community centre in the Bedouin village when the attack happened.

The Lebanese security sources said that the Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday killed three people, including a Hezbollah field commander.

Parallel to the Gaza war, the Israeli forces and Hezbollah have also been involved in exchanging fire for over six months, in the most serious hostilities since their war in 2006, Reuters reported.

Subsequently, Israel's air force stated that its fighter jets struck Hezbollah infrastructure in eastern Lebanon, north of Baalbek, later on Wednesday. These strickes reached beyond the southern border region where Israel has focused most of its strikes, the report noted.

The fighting has sparked concern about the possibility of further escalation.

These concerns have mounted significantly following Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel on Saturday night when the former attacked with hundreds of explosive drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles launched, to which Israeli officials have vowed to retaliate.

Accordin to the report, at least 370 Lebanese, including more than 240 Hezbollah fighters and 68 civilians, have been killed in the fighting till now.

Eighteen Israelis, including soldiers and civilians, have also been killed.
