New Delhi: Globally cases of coronavirus continue to rise and will soon touch 6 million. According to the data by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University at present, the total cases around the world stand at 5,923,432. The death toll has reached 364,849.

The US continues to be the worst affected country with over 1,745,930 cases. On Friday, the country recorded 1,225 coronavirus deaths and the death toll has now reached 102,798. Reports say that New York City which was severely affected by the coronavirus and high fatality rates is going to enter ‘phase one’ of reopening on June 8.

On Friday the US President Donald Trump also announced that it was severing its ties with the World Health Organization (WHO). It is followed by Brazil (465,166) which stands in the second position and Russia (387,623) in the third position. These are followed by the UK (272,607), Spain (238,564), Italy (232,248), France (186,923), Germany (182,922), India (173,491), Turkey (162,120), Iran (146,668), and Peru (141,779).

India is the 9th position in the list of countries worst affected by the coronavirus.

Fresh cases are surfacing in many African countries. Reports say that there is an increase in cases South Africa reported 1,837 new COVID-19 cases. The tally has reached 29,240 in the country. Similarly in Egypt  cases of coronavirus have been steadily rising and on May 30 recorded  1,289 new COVID-19 cases. The country currently has 22,082 coronavirus cases.
