FBI Searches US President Joe Biden's Home For 13 Hours, Finds 6 More Classified Documents

The FBI found the documents at President Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware in a 13-hour-long search.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched US President Joe Biden’s home and found six more classified documents and took possession of some of his notes, reported AP citing Biden’s lawyers.

The 13-hour-long search, conducted on Friday, found documents with containing classified markings and some notes by President Biden during his time as vice president and when he was in the Senate, President’s personal lawyer said, mentioned AP.

"DOJ took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials," the statement from Biden lawyer Bob Bauer said, quoted AFP.

However, the level of classification, and whether the documents removed by the FBI remained classified, was not immediately clear as the Justice Department reviews the records.

The Justice Department searched Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware a week after his attorneys found six classified documents in his home library from his time as vice president. Three months before, his lawyers had found a small number of classified records at his former offices at the Penn Biden Center in Washington.

The development comes a day after President Biden tried to downplay the discovery of the documents at his home and former office. He said there is “no there there” when he was persistently questioned about the matter.

“We found a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place,” Biden said told the media when questioned during a tour of the damage from storms in California. “We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department,” he added, as per the Associated Press.

The US President emphasised that he was “fully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly.”

The fresh development comes amid speculation that Biden may announce his re-election bid for the US Presidential elections in 2024 after his predecessor Donald Trump already confirmed his run-up for the presidency.
