Bill Gates Lauds India’s Success In Coronavirus Vaccine Development And Innovation

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has lauded country's effort for vaccine-manufacturing capabilities. The billionaire philanthropist also praised India’s leadership in scientific innovation.

As the world is dealing with the outbreak of the Coronavirus, India stepped ahead and has developed multiple vaccines to fight the global pandemic. Looking at the success, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has lauded country's effort for vaccine-manufacturing capabilities. The billionaire philanthropist also praised India’s leadership in scientific innovation. “It’s great to see India’s leadership in scientific innovation and vaccine manufacturing capability as the world works to end the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gates tweeted. READ | Ready To Rollout Covid-19 Vaccine Within 10 Days From Date Of Emergency Use Approval: Health Ministry The co-founder of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, an NGO which works to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty across the globe, has hailed India multiple times in the past especially for the government’s proactive measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. According to officials, the founder of Microsoft wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciating the fact that the Indian government was fully utilizing the digital capabilities in response to the global pandemic. He praised the launch of 'Aarogya Setu' digital mobile app used for coronavirus tracking, contact tracing, and to connect people to health services. A lot of "very important things have been done" in India and its pharma industry is doing work "to help make the coronavirus vaccine building on other great capacities that they have used for other diseases" Gates said in the documentary, named ‘Covid-19: India's War Against The Virus’. India is developing more than three vaccines for the Covid-19 disease,  of which two including Serum Institute of India’s vaccine which have been developed jointly by Oxford University and British drugmaker AstraZeneca “Covishield” and Bharat Biotech’s “Covaxin”.
