Douglas: The residents of a border city in Arizona were left in disbelief with the surprise appearance of a bear, who climbed up two utility poles and even sat on the wires, triggering fear among the passersby.

The bolder than average bear appeared in downtown Douglas on Sunday, said the Arizona Game & Fish Department.

In their attempts to get the bear to leave, the state wildlife officials, Douglas police, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Border Patrol had to close the U.S. Highway 191.

The authorities said the seemingly unfazed bear eventually climbed down and scampered off, sending about two dozen onlookers scattering, AP reported.

No injuries were, however, reported.

This is the time of year where the people in the area need to watch out for bears, according to the Arizona Game & Fish Department officials.
