Bangladesh Crisis: As Bangladesh continues to reel under violence triggered by anti-quota protests, additional security forces have been deployed on the India-Bangladesh border amid the high alert. The security forces are constantly patrolling the area.

The death toll in the anti-government protests in Bangladesh on Tuesday climbed to 440, with 100 more deaths reported after Sheikh Hasina fled the country, news agency PTI reported, citing local media.

Amid the violence, minorities, including Hindus, were allegedly attacked in several districts of Bangladesh. Attacks on Hindus took place in districts including Panchgarh, Dinajpur, Bogura, Rangpur, Sherpur Kishoreganj, Sirajganj, Mugra, Narail, West Jashore, Patuakhali, South-West Khulna, Central Narsingdi, Satkhira, Tangail, Feni Chittagong, and North-West Lakkipur.

Several ministers in the Sheikh Hasina government have fled the country. Mohibul Hasan Chaudhary, who was the education minister in the Hasina government, and Mohammad Tajul Islam, the minister for local government, rural development, and cooperation, left the country via the airport route.

Former Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali, Sports Minister Najmul Hasan Papon, and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh also left the country through HSIA.

BSF DG Daljit Singh Chaudhary is set to visit Tripura today. His visit holds significance as Bangladesh shares the second-longest international border with the state after West Bengal. The Tripura border is close to residential areas, which requires extra caution.

The primary objective of the BSF DG's visit to these areas is to assess the strategic and operational readiness and deployment strategies of the BSF at these key locations in the light of recent developments in Bangladesh. The entire border between India and Bangladesh is about 4000 km.

Bangladesh descended into chaos as Prime Minister Hasina surreptitiously resigned and fled the country in a military aircraft while the army stepped in to fill the power vacuum by announcing an interim government.
