New Delhi: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison celebrated the trade agreement signed between India and Australia in a unique way by preparing cuisines from his friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat state which included ‘khichdi’.
Posting a selfie while wearing an apron, and tagging PM Modi, in an Instagram post, Morrison captioned the image, “To celebrate our new trade agreement with India, the curries I chose to cook for curry night tonight are all from my dear friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat province, including his favourite Khichdi. Jen, girls and mum all approve.”
India and Australia, on April 2, had signed an economic cooperation and trade agreement under which Indian goods will get duty free access in Australian markets for over 95 percent of Indian goods such as textiles, leather, jewellery and sports products.
Earlier this month, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and his Australian counterpart, Dan Tehan had signed the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement in a virtual ceremony in the presence of PM Modi and Australian PM Scott Morrison.
PM Modi had termed the agreement as a “watershed moment for India-Australia relations” while Morrison added that the pact will further deepen Australia’s close ties with India, news agency PTI had reported.
