New Delhi: In an instance of racial abuse, an Indian- origin restaurateur in the US was racially targeted by a customer and was equated with terrorist group ‘Al-Qaeda’.

The restaurateur named Taj Sardar who runs ‘The Kings Dinner’ in Ashland, Kentucky was targeted ina racial social media post.

A man who ate at the hotel, later posted on Facebook that he was greeted by a ‘tribe from India’. He further wrote that he was ashamed that he ‘probably funded Al Qaeda’. The man also shared a photograph of the eatery, which serves a combination of home cooking and Indian dishes.

When Taj Sardar first read the Facebook post, he said he couldn’t believe if it was serious. He then hoped that the man and his backers do not try to get together and push him out of there, PTI reported.

However, with the help of community people after the racial abuse, the restaurant is reportedly doing double business. Ashland city’s mayor Steve Gilmore and three city commissioners have visited Sardar to give their support.

Sardar and his family has been living in Ashland since 2010. They came to US legally in the year 2006.

The man, who targeted Sardar, has reportedly been fired by the Ambulance Services he used to work for.
