New Delhi: After taking over Afghanistan amid economic crises, the Taliban is on its way to chalk out a new cabinet as the US evacuation almost reached its deadline. The Taliban expected that sharp currency falls and economic turmoil amid their takeover of Kabul would subside, according to news agency Reuters.

When is the new cabinet likely to form?

Even as the exact date of the formation of a new cabinet is still not clear, Mujahid earlier told the news agency that an announcement would be made in the coming week, but later he indicated that the formation of the new cabinet would be cleared "in one or two weeks".

On asked whether any women would find a place in the new cabinet, he didn’t give any clarity saying this matter will depend on the leadership and he could not anticipate what their decision would be. At present, Kabul is facing severe economic hardship owing to a plummeting currency and rising food prices, and banks remained closed after the fall of the city to the Taliban.
According to the Taliban orders, banks were asked to reopen with a weekly limit on withdrawals of $200 or 20,000 Afghanis.

Mujahid said officials had already been appointed to run key institutions including the ministries of public health and education and the central bank. Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson, informed about the development as several nations have withdrawn their troops and closed their mission to evacuate citizens and vulnerable Afghans.

While condemning the overnight US drone strike against ISIS terrorists after the airport attack killed several US citizens Mujahid said it is a "clear attack on Afghan territory".
However, Mujahid urged to the United States and other Western nations to ensure diplomatic relations after their withdrawal, which is expected to be completed "very soon".
