Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan on Saturday said that 3 shooters were involved in the assassination attempt to kill him during a protest march in Wazirabad on November 3. He suffered bullet injuries in his right leg while he was leading a protest march against the Pakistani government to push for early elections. While addressing a huge rally in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Khan said that the two attackers previously identified were the ones who fired at him and other PTI leaders. The second shooter fired at the front of the containers while the third person was meant to silence the assassin to protect any details from being divulged, reported the news agency PTI.


He claimed that the third shooter that was meant to silence the assassin actually killed a person at the rally while trying to kill the would-be assassin, reported a Pakistan Daily, the Dawn newspaper.


Khan while addressing the nation from the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore, just a day after being shot said that both shooters shot him four times in his right leg. He said he was on a container when a “burst of bullets” was allegedly directed at him. He added, “then a second burst came, there were two people.”

He once again accused Major General Faisal Naseer, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of plotting a conspiracy to kill him.


Khan was removed from office in April after losing a vote of no-confidence in his leadership, which he said was a result of a US-led plot to assassinate him for his independent foreign policy choices on Russia, China, and Afghanistan. The claims have been refuted by the US.


He is the only prime minister of Pakistan to have been removed by a no-confidence vote in the Parliament. In August 2023, the present National Assembly's tenure will come to an end.
