In a highly shocking incident, West Bengal minister Jakir Hossain was seriously injured after unidentified assailants hurled crude bombs at him inside railway station in the Murshidabad district on Wednesday evening. ALSO READ | Bodies Of Two Minor Girls Found In UP's Unnao, Third Critical


According to the reports, the minister of state for labour was attacked in Raghunathganj when he was on his way to Nimtita Railway station to catch a train to Kolkata. A senior official of the West Bengal Police told PTI that the minister was waiting for the train going to Kolkata on platform no. 2 at around 10 pm when he was attacked. 


Hossain, also a leading businessman in the area, was reportedly attacked at a crowded spot in full public view.

Soon, Hossain and a few other injured persons were rushed to the Jangipur government hospital. As per the early reports, the minister sustained injuries on the left side, mainly on the leg. News agency ANI quoted Murshidabad Medical College Superintendent saying that he's stable and out of danger, one hand and leg injured. 


Union Minister Piyush Goyal condemned the attack saying my prayers are for the quick recovery of the injured.
