Union Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur showed his cricketing skills during a friendly match at the 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday.
His great attachment to cricket is well-known to the public. He never misses the chance to try his hand on the bat. The same was seen on Sunday when he reached Kashi to attend Kashi-Tamil-Sangamam, in BHU. In a friendly match under Sangamam, Anurag Thakur tried his hand at cricket and relived his old days.
His pictures are viral on social media where he can see showing his skills through the bat.
He also interacted with the players of both teams of a friendly cricket match between Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu under the Kashi_Tamil_Sangamam program in Varanasi and honored them and wished them a bright future.
AT-20 cricket match was organized on the fourth day of the sports festival organized under Kashi Tamil Sangamam. Batting first after winning the toss, the UP team scored 198 runs at the loss of seven wickets. On the other hand, the Tamil Nadu team could manage only 144 runs at the loss of three wickets and lost the match.

Anurag Thakur, is a former player, who played one match for Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy against Jammu & Kashmir in 2000. Thakur is also a former BCCI president.
An eight-day sports festival is going on in BHU under the 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam' event. He welcomes students and players to Banaras Hindu University. He also shows his gratitude towards PM Modi who has started this Kahi- Tamil- Sangam.
This event becomes an opportunity to bring more than 2500 Tamilian friends not only to see historical places but also to connect the dots of history. Anurag Thakur is also a former cricketer. He played a Ranji trophy match from the side of Himachal Pradesh against Jammu & Kashmir in November 2000. He was the president of HPCA.
“Kashi (Varanasi) & Tamil Sangam has helped in boosting cultures. This is an age-old relationship that has been revived by PM Modi. The gaming platform here has helped youth from both states in connecting,” says Union Minister Anurag Thakur.
