New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank admitted to All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi due to post COVID complications today. As per the early inputs, the 61-year-old, who had tested positive on April 21, complained of complications following which he was rushed to the hospital. 


News of Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank being admitted to AIIMS comes right ahead when expectations were high that announcement on CBSE class 12th exam patterns will be made today.

Sources ealier informed that the education minister was expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and brief him on the suggestions put forth by the respective state education boards in regards with conducting class 12 board exams. 


Earlier on May 23, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal along with education ministers and other officials associated with the education ministry participated in a high-level meeting where it was decided that the Class 12 CBSE exams would not be cancelled like Class X. 


Sources suggested that the ruling dispensation has decided to double the examination centres in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition this, the authorities also mulling over ensuring vaccination on priority for those students who are 18 years and above and teachers and staff to be present during the examination.


All covid-19 arrangements will be made at the examination centres and the number of students appearing for the exam in one room will also be less, sources added. 


Meanwhile, class 12 students must note that a notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.
