New Delhi: India's former star middle-order batsman Suresh Raina has opened about the murder of his 58-year-old uncle Ashok Kumar, a government contractor, during an alleged robbery attempt in Punjab's Pathankot. In a tweet, Raina has said that they have yet to get information on what really happened on that fateful day. He has said in his tweet, that while 'uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days.'

The cricketer who pulled of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League citing 'personal reasons' has demanded justice for his family and said 'those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes.'


According to a report by PTI the gruesome incident took place at Thariyal village in Punjab's Pathankot district on the night intervening August 19 and 20. During the attack by the heavily armed robbers, Raina's aunt, and three more of his relatives, sustained injuries. The report also said that three to four members of the notorious 'Kale Kachhewala gang', a group of robbers who don 'Kale Kachche' or even police uniforms to evade detection, had come with an intention to rob the family. They attacked Ashok Kumar and his family members when they were sleeping at the terrace of their house.



Raina whi was supposed to be the IPL, pulled out soon after BCCI in a press release revealed that two players in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus including an Indian fast-bowler and a top-order India A batsman. 12 staff members have also tested positive.
