People who have sustained injuries have been admitted to hospital for medical care, with two in a critical condition, said the officials.

New Delhi: At least one civilian was killed while 20 people were injured on Monday in a grenade attack in Kashmir’s main city of Srinagar. The grenade attack took place in a market on Maulana Azad road of the city. People who have sustained injuries have been admitted to hospital for medical care, with two in a critical condition, said the officials. Following the attack, large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area. This is the second grenade attack in Srinagar within 15 days. It was a week ago when militants hurled a grenade in north Kashmir’s Sopore when nineteen people were injured. The Kashmir valley has been witnessing continuous shutdown since August 5 when the Centre revoked the state's special status under Article 370 and bifurcated it into two Union Territories — J&K and Ladakh. On October 26, six security personnel were injured after an attack was launched on them in Kakasarai area of Karan Nagar in Srinagar. Earier, the security forces were also targeted by terrorists in Srinagar's Karan Nagar during naka duty. A grenade was lobbed at Karan Nagar Police Station followed by firing.
