New Delhi: Delhi Police's Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HS Dhaliwal said on Wednesday that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in the Delhi Police's custody. Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal said that police have arrested Siddhesh Hiraman Kamle, alias Mahakal, an aide of the main shooter involved in Moose Wala's murder.
Dhaliwal said Mahakal was arrested from Pune and five more suspects had been identified in connection with the case.
"Lawrence Bishnoi is mastermind behind the killing...Maharashtra Police has been given one Mahakaal's 14-day police custody remand. He is a close associate of one of the shooters, but he's not involved in the killing," the Special CP said.
"At least 5 people are involved in the killing. Actual shooters will be arrested soon," he further said.
Lawrence Bishnoi, who has been questioned several times by the police, has denied his hand in the murder. However, he acknowledged that Moose Wala was killed in retaliation to the murder of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera, which took place last year.
Moose Wala, who had unsuccessfully contested the Punjab assembly polls on a Congress ticket, was shot dead last month at Jawaharke village in Punjab's Mansa district. Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar has claimed responsibility for the murder of the Punjabi singer.
Along with Mahakaal, nine people have been arrested in this case. On Tuesday, Punjab Police arrested eight people for providing logistics support, conducting recce and harbouring the shooters of Moose Wala, Punjab Police has said. Among those arrested is a man who pretended to be a fan and took a selfie with Moose Wala just before the murder.
