Captain Geetika Koul Becomes First Woman Medical Officer To Be Deployed At Siachen
Captain Geetika Koul from Snow Leopard Brigade is the first woman medical officer to be deployed at Siachen.
In an incredible feat, the Indian Army is going to send its first woman medical officer to the highest battlefield, Siachen. Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps which handles some of the most sensitive frontiers and battlefields in the world, took to X, formerly Twitter and posted about Captain Geetika Koul who successfully completed the induction training at Siachen Battle School to become make history.
This increadible feat was made possible by a challenging assessment of both physical and mental resilience during the training which encompasses a range of crucial elements. It includes high-altitude acclimatisation, survival tactics, and specialised medical procedures vital for navigating and functioning effectively in demanding and harsh conditions.
In the X post, the Fire and Fury Corp wrote, “Captain Geetika Koul from the Snow Leopard Brigade becomes the first Woman Medical officer of the #IndianArmy to be deployed at the world's highest battlefield, #Siachen after successfully completing the induction training at Siachen Battle School.”

The Siachen Glacier, located in the northern part of the Himalayas, is known as the highest-altitude battle site and it is situated near the Indo-Pak Line of Control. It is the largest glacier in India and the second-largest in the world. It is the highest battleground on earth.

For troops tp be connected to their families, a month back, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited also established the first-ever BSNL base transceiver station (BTS) on the Siachen Glacier. "Siachen Warriors in collaboration with BSNL established first ever BSNL BTS at forward posts of the highest battlefield on October 6, to extend mobile communication for the soldiers deployed at more than 15,500 feet," the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army postedon X.
