What is the legend?

In the Mahabharata period, Lord Krishna himself told Yudhisthira and Arjuna in detail about Ekadashi fast.  According to mythology, a king named Suketuman ruled over the kingdom of Bhadravati. His wife's name was Shaivya. After all, they had no children, leaving both sad and anxious. The king began to worry about the ancestors and Pindana. Due to this grief, the idea of committing suicide came to the mind of the king, but considering it a sin, he abandoned the idea. One day the king's started walking towards the forest.

In the forest, he saw many animals, birds and beasts. The king began to have bad thoughts. When he became very sad, he came and sat by the side of a pond. There were ashrams of sages and munis by the side of this pond. The king went to an ashram and sat there bowing to the sages and munis. Seeing the king, the sages and sages said that they are happy to see the king here, so tell your wish. Then the king expressed his concern to the sage. The sage listened to the king and said that today is Putrada Ekadashi so he has come here to bathe.

The sages asked the king to fast on the day of Putrada Ekadashi. The king started the fast of Ekadashi from the same day. The king fasted lawfully and passed the fast on Dwadashi. A few days later the queen conceived and nine months later the king received the Putra Ratna. This boy became courageous and a benefactor of the people.
