But although Khan had started her career in the film industry very early, fame arrived a little late. In fact, it was her work with Sridevi for the film Mr. India (1987) that catapulted her to the spotlight

Here are some of the songs best remembered for Saroj Khan’s ‘Latka Jhatkas’

Hawa Hawai- The song from the film Mr. India (1987) is still fresh in everyone’s memory. It was rehashed for the film Shaitan (2011) by fusing some reggae beats to give it a contemporary appeal. Sridevi’s moves in the song not only made her a heartthrob but also got Khan noticed by the industry. The quirky and fun moves made it a fan favourite.

Ek Do Teen- The song from the film Tezaab (1988) still sizzles the dance floor. Madhuri Dixit dancing to the strong moves choreographed by Khan shot the song to the top of the charts. The hook step used in the song became so famous that people still replicate it and there are videos online to learn it. In a tweet, Dixit said ‘The hook step became so popular at that time. I was shocked to know that people used to demand the song to be replayed in the theatres before the movie could continue & fling money on the screens.’

Tamma Tamma Loge – The song from the film Thanedaar (1990) uses the early 90s techno beats to reflect the changing youth culture.  Madhuri Dixit in a skin-tight faux leather dress and the very young Sanjay Dutt put the dance floor on fire. Khan had created strong leg movement along with her classic waist action to choreograph the song. The song was remixed and used for Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2011). It saw Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan doing the same dance movements along with some new moves.
