Renault Likely To Bring Triber AMT Early Next Year

The Triber AMT was announced at the unveil in June but is yet to be launched

Renault’s new sub-4m MPV, the Triber, has been launched in India with price starting from Rs 4.95 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is available in four petrol-manual variants namely - RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. However, the AMT option will likely be launched only next year. We believe it could debut at India’s largest auto show, the 2020 Auto Expo. The Triber AMT was announced at the unveil in June 2019, but it will likely be introduced with the BS6-compliant version of the MPV. The BS6-compliant Triber is expected to hit the markets before the 1 April 2020 deadline. Currently, it comes with a BS4-compliant 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine which produces 72PS of peak power and 96Nm of peak torque. For now, the Triber only gets a 5-speed manual. It is expected that the AMT will be offered in the top-spec Triber and will command a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the top-spec manual model. The Triber comes with two removable third-row seats, whereas the middle row has a 60:40 split folding function. It also gets twin AC vents for both the second and third rows. The second row section behind the driver side slides on rails. On the other hand, the section behind the passenger side can be tumbled forward for easier access to the rear. Upon complete removal of the third row, the Triber features a class-leading boot space of 625 litres. Being a seven-seater, the Triber only has one direct rival, the Datsun GO+. But its prices put it head-to-head against mid-size hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the Ford Figo as well as the Freestyle.
